01
The Challenge
Public construction opportunities are scattered across hundreds of portals, and the search results for finding them were owned by legacy incumbents with years of domain authority. ConstructionBids.ai launched with none: in its first 90 days of tracking, the platform recorded 133 clicks from 30,062 impressions at an average position of 30.8 — page three, functionally invisible.
The incumbents' weakness was product, not marketing. Contractors searching for prevailing-wage rates, AIA billing forms, and takeoff math were landing on static articles and paywalled directories. Every one of those queries was an opening.
02
The Approach
Instead of only writing about contractors' problems, LaderaLABS shipped tools that solve them: a visual takeoff calculator, an equipment rental rate calculator, and fillable AIA G702/G703 resources. The tools became the site's traffic engine — /tools/visual-takeoff and /tools/equipment-rental-rate-calculator now rank among the top pages by clicks.
A data-driven content layer went after compliance queries with real numbers — DIR prevailing wage determinations, Davis-Bacon rates for 2026 — while comparison pages intercepted contractors evaluating the incumbents. The Dodge vs. ConstructConnect comparison alone has earned 267 clicks.
Every page was structured to be citable by AI search engines: clear definitions, first-party data, direct answers.
